It’s been almost two years since Taco Bell fanatics have been able to enjoy Taco Bell’s super famous (and delicious) Mexican pizza menu. That’s because the menu item, originally launched in 1985 as ‘Pizzazz Pizza’, was removed from their menus in 2020.
Earlier this week, during a performance at Coachella music festival, Grammy award-winner Doja Cat announced that Taco Bell is bringing back the menu item on May 19. “I brought back the Mexican pizza by the way,” the “Kiss Me More” artist told her fans during the performance.

News of the return of the Mexican pizza was confirmed by Taco Bell CEO Mark King in a April 18 press release. “From its flashy introduction to menus in 1985 as ‘Pizzazz Pizza’ to its inspiration behind the creation of infamous jingles, Mexican Pizza has a long history with the brand and I’m glad we could give fans what they crave and bring our classic Mexican Pizza back home where it belongs.” the release states.
So how did Doja Cat get wrapped up in this Mexican pizza business? Well, basically, she tweeted and rapped about about it.
In a November 22 tweet, Doja Cat tweet “Hey @tacobell, just heard my song in your commercial… I’m a #TacoBellPartner now. So where’s my Mexican Pizza?”

To which Taco Bell responded with…
Umm, that wasn’t part of the deal…

And just back in March, Doja Cat released a TikTok recording of her original song “Refried Beans (Mexican Pizza)”, an ode to her love of the menu item, in which she raps “This ain’t even Mexican food/But I don’t care when the clock hits 2 a.m., p.m. if that is your mood.. Mexican pizza is the pizza for you and me.”
