I love a high-ABV dark beer. As the temperatures drop and the nights get longer, there’s nothing better than a barrel-aged brew to warm you up. This week, one of the breweries right in my neighborhood has released their first barrel-aged stout!
Lincoln Avenue Brewing, located in the heart of Bellevue in Pittsburgh, had their Oktoberfest celebration this weekend. One of the stars of the weekend was Barrel Shot. An 11% espresso stout, if you love coffee and whiskey, this is a beer for you!
Aged in an MLH Distillery rye whiskey barrel, this beer is in limited supply – there were only 207 bottles created! With notes of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla, this is a big beer with big taste! I’ll be heading down to Lincoln Avenue when they open on Tuesday and snagging a bottle for sure.
There’s lots of other seasonal tasty brews available as well. Naked Pumpkin is a 5.8% autumnal brew that was made with fresh pumpkin roasted with honey, cinnamon and nutmeg. More of a fest fan? Check out their Oktoberfest, a 5.1% festbier that is a malty brew with sweet and spicy notes.
Regardless of your seasonal beer preferences, Lincoln Avenue Brewing has you covered this week! I can’t wait to get my hands on some Barrel Shot this week!
