Ahh, yes. The NFL season is finally upon us. With Heinz Field being located at such a strategic location on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, you’re super close to many excellent craft breweries. Whether you’re a Pittsburgh native, or just in town for the game, here are my top picks for grabbing a beer at a brewery prior to kick-off.

The Roundabout Pop-Up starts my list off here. Located just past the casino near the North Shore, this place is a well-kept secret that I spent way too much time at. This is a seasonal location that tends to close once the weather gets cold, but is usually open through at least mid-October. Boasting a well-rounded taplist and one of my eternal favorites, Ginga Wheat, check their instagram before heading there to make sure they’re open!

Next, you’re in the 412, let’s drink at 412! 412 brewery has undergone a massive rebrand and rehaul in the past year and they are making some amazing beers! I’ve been obsessed with Crispy and the Bandit, a 5.6% smoked beer that’s smooth and easy despite the rich flavor. If you’re day drinking and watching the Steelers, Perhelion is a 4.4% light lager that will quench your thirst! Open 7 days a week, check this place out prior to Monday Night Football!

If you need a pregame meal, Bier’s Pub is super close to 412 and boasts a great menu. Chock full of burgers, hot dogs and other epic pub food, you can’t go wrong here. Bier’s is also home to War Streets Brewing! Grab a glass of Galveston Gold, a pilsner with a light malty flavor that sounds perfectly crushable.

Conclude your mini tour with a trip to Four Points Brewing! Opening at 11am on Steeler Sundays, this is a great place to pre-game. Check out Fourth Street +, their house IPA hopped with another dry hop of citra and mosaic. A tasty, dank brew, this is the beer for you if you’re an IPA lover. The 4P Marzen is also a perfect fall brew with the perfect balance of crispy and malty flavor.

Don your Black and Gold and head on dahntahn for any of these tasty brews! Do you have a favorite spot to grab a pregame brew or post-game drink? Let me know
