Abjuration Brewing continues to push the envelope and create some of the most unique brews in Pittsburgh. Recently, they’ve swung into a massive sours phase. As someone who is learning to love sours, I’ve been wowed by the sheer amount of choices available there. Here are some of the sours that demand to be tried on your next visit!
One of their creations that has been convincing me to love sours is their slushie series. This week, Candied Sour 1.11 debuted and it’s an absolute home run! Tasting precisely like a lemon-lime slushie, this beer has a nice wheaty base and is super balanced with the acidity. If you’re looking for a sour that will intrigue without making your jaw hurt, try this one out. It’s a mildly sweet brew with just the right amount of tartness, and fantastic summertime flavors!
Want to try something else that’s tart and up your alley? There are FIVE other options. Fruited Sour 1.16 is a 5% brew loaded with blackberry pie taste! The vanilla and cinnamon notes in this one combine for a decadent sweet treat in a glass.
Love a good margarita? Check out Margarita Sour 1.0. This 6.8% fruited gose is brewed with agave nectar, sea salt and lime. Conditioned with strawberry purée, it’s absolutely perfect for a hot August day. It’s also still available in cans if you want to take this brew home with you!
Rounding out Abjuration’s sour stockpile are the Strawberry Shortcake Sour (Smoothie Style Sour 1.13) and Rhubarb Pie Sour (Fruited Sour 1.15), run, don’t walk if you love all things tart! With hours from Thursday-Sunday each week, grab these unique brews at Abjuration ASAP!
