All right, hear me out. I love beer, obviously. But there’s also a place in my heart for a hard seltzer. Light, fruity and easy, they are the perfect afternoon beverage after a hard bike ride, mowing the lawn, or watching those buccos slip further below .500. Lucky for us yinzers, Pittsburgh breweries have been turning out some great ones recently! Here’s three recent releases to enjoy.
First, let’s start with one of my personal favorite seltzer series ever, Grist House’s Seltza Drip. These came about during quarantine last year and I’ve loved them ever since! Right now, you can still get your hands on Seltza Drip: Strawberry + Guava (5.0%) at the brewery to-go for now. Loaded with fruity flavor but not too sweet, this one is a tropical blast. Run, don’t walk to taste my favorite seltzer series as they keep absolutely killing it!
Next, let’s travel north of the city to Cellar Works Brewing. Located over in Sarver, this next entry to my tour de seltzer will knock your socks off. Smooth Vibes: Very Berry is a 6% hard seltzer that is brewed with tons of real fruit and tastes more like a smoothie than a traditional seltzer. Made with strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry, this brew is non-dairy and gluten free as well! Grab a can to enjoy at the brewery or take a 4 pack to go of this summery treat!
Allegheny City has also entered the realm of seltzers with a new release this week as well! Float Trip is their first seltzer release and it’s a crisp, slightly sweet treat with black cherry essence. Sounds perfect for a day on the river! 4.9% in ABV, this one is easy and will be great for sunnier days ahead.
All of these seltzers sound like the perfect drink for cheersing in the month of August. Check out all of the options with a pint in the brewery or on your next can run. Try out any of these three releases and let me know what you think in the comments below!
