During these sweltering hot days, I really love a nice, cold brew. Nothing cools you off better, am I right? A nice, easy, crushable brew is the perfect offset to being outside in the summer sun.

Spoonwood Brewing, located in the South Hills in Bethel Park, has just the ticket to sate your summertime taste buds. Coconut Babaloo (5%), a cream ale, may be one of the more perfect summer brews I’ve heard of in a while. A light, easy drinker with sweet coconut notes, this tastes like the perfect poolside brew. Whether you’re chilling outside, or enjoying your AC at home, this beer will do the trick!

Want another summer counterpart to this coconut treat? Cold Drip City is a coffee ale that’s nice and light and smooth. This coffee blonde ale is infused with Sulawesi Dark Roast from Allegheny Coffee and Tea exchange. Another sweet treat on tap is Groovin’ Up Slowly. This golden ale is loaded with Mexican chocolate goodness! Chock full of cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon and cayenne flavor. Any of these beers sounds like the perfect summer day treat!

Any night is a good night to check out these tasty brews at Spoonwood. A restaurant loaded with great beer and amazing food, check out their pizza night on Tuesdays or visit for a burger on Thursdays and make it a perfect summer night!
