Sometimes less is more. For Commonwealth Brewing in Richmond, Va, it appears this expression has not made its way to the brewery yet. Going against the grain, Commonwealth is putting out a juggernaut of a stout in the middle of the summer. Say hello to their latest release, Tahitian Hazelnut Mochaccino. 

The name pretty much tells you what you are in store for. This beer explodes with coconut and Tahitian vanilla bean blend with hazelnut and espresso. This stout also ages in bourbon barrels because why not? At 14.6% ABV, this secret release from the brewery is a sipper that you need to share with some worthy friends. 

Anyone who has tried Commonwealth will tell you that they are not shy when it comes to flavor. They absolutely can brew some fantastic, simpler beers. I recommend ANY of their Mexican lager releases as evidence of this. But even with stouts in the summer, every beer they put out is completely unique. You never feel like you are drinking the same recipe with just one ingredient tweaked. Their high output of original, high quality beers for a brewery their size is remarkable and worth a try.
