In my book, Oskar Blues Brewery can do no wrong. They are kings and queens of the can revolution, and the purveyor of ahead-of-the-curve ales. The newest addition to their popular special release series, “Death By…” comes the series newest entrant, Death by Flapjacks.

This series of beers always stands out because you get great flavor without the beer itself tasting overly sweet or artificial. Spearheaded by the first nationally released beer in this series, Death by Coconut, some years back, Death by Flapjacks carries on the tradition.

With a very modest English Porter base, the OB team gives you a healthy dose of maple syrup to check off all the boxes of a pancake house short stack. With a low(ish) ABV of 6.5%, this is a much more palatable beer than some of the 10%+ breakfast stouts out there. I am not suggesting you drink it for breakfast, but I am also not not saying that.
