With a release of very ethereal can artwork, Hudson Valley Brewery is calling upon a high power for their new IPAs, Awaken and Archangel.

Awaken is anything but basic. It is an “Oak Aged Sour Farmhouse Double IPA.” Putting it simply, it is a complex beer. The body is part raw wheat, flaked and malted oats with a dose of milk sugar to give the body that creamy texture. A unique addition of passion fruit and strawberry adds even more to this already luscious beer. The hop bill is classic IPA, with the big orange and tropical fruit notes of Citra and Mosaic.

Once the IPA portion is done, the brewers then blend the fresh IPA with select barrels of their Sour Farmhouse Ale that has been aging for one to three years. The range of flavors is so vast that I do not want to do the beer any injustice by trying to summarize it here.

Archangel is a slightly bigger Double IPA than Awaken at 9% ABV, but aims for that hop hitting flavor of a more straight forward IPA. It gets its hazy body from the use of raw wheat and flaked oats. It gets a massive dry hop from Galaxy, Rakau, and Motueka to deliver that candied orange and thick marmalade flavor.

Both beers are now available in packs of four 16 oz cans!
