The greater Boston area has some insane breweries with Trillium and Vitamin Sea, but Widowmaker Brewing is making a name for themselves as well. They joined forces with Imprint Beer Company and Lost Tavern Brewing on the release of Big, Big Waves: a New England Double IPA. The collab’s grain bill consists of pale malts and flaked oats, and they dry-hopped it with Kohatu, Belma & El Dorado. These hops produce notes of strawberry, mango, and bright citrus. However, this isn’t the first time Imprint brewed with a prominent New England brewery. I personally had their Vitamin Sea collab, and it was phenomenal. So I expect the Widowmaker collab to be excellent as well.
The label features three fists with tattoos. The fists represent each of the three breweries, and the tattoos come from Imprint and Lost Tavern’s previous collaboration called Tattooed Everything. It’s a sour ale with Apricot, Raspberry, Blackberry, a touch of Guava, Vanilla, and “a delicate dry hop” of Nelson Sauvin hops. They are re-releasing this beer alongside Big, Big Waves.
There is no online pre-sale at Imprint this week, so it’s first come first serve for take-out. Lost Tavern doesn’t offer online purchases as well, but don’t let that stop you. Big, Big Waves will be available at Imprint Beer Company and Lost Tavern Brewing starting today (June 11th). Lost Tavern serves draft beer, and Imprint has cans onsite. There should be some available for Imprint beer shipping to PA on Sunday.
