Summertime in Pittsburgh is special. We’ve got so many great spaces to visit, explore and enjoy, especially when the sun is shining down! Last year, breweries really kicked outdoor drinking up a notch so we could all enjoy a pint while being socially distant. Now, these spaces are amped up and revamped to celebrate summer in a vaccinated world!
At my house, we LOVE heading to the North Side for a brew. It’s pretty close to where we live and there’s so many options! One of our oldest favorites is Allegheny City Brewing. I’ve taken out-of-state friends and relatives to it, my husband bikes there all the time, this is one of our favorite spots bar none. As of this weekend, the Beer Garten is open!
And this year’s edition is revamped and ready for action. Located on East Ohio Street, you can access the space through Emlin Way through the parking lot by the brewery. Walk through the parking lot behind the brewery and you’re there!
This space just opened this weekend, so expect more great things to come – Allegheny City is going to create some great events for this outdoor space! Love live music? There’s already a Bluegrass night every Wednesday with the Shelf Life String Brand. Grab a pint and check it out!
They’re got some great crushable summer brews on right now as well. I’ve been loving nice, crispy lagers recently, and Straight Up Pils (5%) sounds perfect for a hot Pittsburgh day. Expect an easy, crushable drinker with this one!
I’ve also got a love for reds. Fun fact- a red was the first beer I had on my 21st birthday! Adrift (5.5%), an American Red Ale, just hit the taps and four pack fridge recently as well. There’s plenty of other options too, regardless of what beer style you prefer.
Allegheny City will be the place to be this summer in the ‘Burgh! Open Mondays and Wednesday-Sunday this is a great place to stop for a weekend brew or a midweek pick-me-up. Visit this week and check out the new outdoor space!
