Are you tired of overpaying for fruited sours? Did you forget to bring enough ice packs and now your trunk looks like a Jackson Pollock painting? We all love low ABV sours in the Summer, but sometimes you need a break from the thick smoothies, so some Philly area breweries got together and brewed up a solution. They collaborated on a “Philly Sour” called Greetings From Philly. However, I might be a little biased. I’m from Philly, and I loved all of Stable 12’s sours I had. Their Fresh Picked series, for example, is light and refreshing but full of fruit. They’re almost like one of those margarita malt beverages, but they taste a lot better. And it’s just in time for Philly’s first heat wave of the year.
They brewed it with “Philly Sour yeast,” hopped it with Citra & Sabro, and conditioned it on Mango, Pineapple, and Passionfruit. Citra and Sabro pack notes of citrus and tropical fruit, so what better adjunct than actual tropical fruit? The addition of fruit balances out the bitterness of the hops while maintaining an enjoyable 5.5% ABV.
The Greetings From Philly Sour Ale is available on draft, in 4-packs, and for shipping from Stable 12 Brewing right now! Click here to order shipping from Stable 12’s “Pony Express.” They ship to Pennsylvania, Virginia, and DC, so you won’t need to be in Philly to get a “Philly Sour.”
