Alright, hear me out. I know it’s cold, rainy, and the weirdest Memorial Day weekend ever in Pittsburgh. But it’s also the unofficial start of summer and it has me dreaming of brighter and better days in the weeks to come. As we toast to that, here are three beers that take the cake for the start of summer.
Beer 1: Trace Brewing – Red Petals. Saison is a style of beer that has been growing on me in the past year. Trace’s releases have been a huge part of my new found appreciation. This one looks amazing. Hibiscus is a peak summer flavor in my opinion, and Red Petals is a 5.2%, light, sessionable and fruity brew. This gateway-to-summer beer is available on draft and in four-packs for to-go. I’ll be visiting soon, Trace!
Beer 2: Grist House Brewing – Tee Time. I’m fully in the camp of hard seltzers. They’re perfect, refreshing, and easy for summer days. Grist House has been killing it with their Seltza Drip series. This version is iced tea flavored with hints of mixed berry. Crisp, refreshing and perfect for a poolside beer, this 4% seltzer is a must-have.
Beer 3: Hitchhiker Brewing – Point of Confusion. I’m going to play to the weather on this one and embrace the rain. This is a white stout that sounds absolutely perfect to me, regardless of season. At 9.2%, this beer is brewed without any dark malt to keep it pale in appearance. Conditioned on house coffee blend, cacao nibs, hazelnut, vanilla, and maple, Point of Confusion is a tasty treat that is perfect for rainy or sunny weather.
Regardless of weather or temperatures, this weekend deserves a toast! Raise a glass to the start of summer! Did you grab any of these brews for the weekend? Let me know in the comments below!
