Wax-sealed brews are a special event. Usually high in ABV and flavor, these barrel aged beauties are must-haves. Whether you save them for a special occasion or the next #waxwednesday, they’re a treat. This week, Cinderlands Beer released three big, tasty brews that demand attention. Here’s what’s available.
First, the one that I was able to sample at Cinderlands Wexford this weekend. Douse:Cinnamon Drum (11.5%), is an imperial stout with the perfect punch of cinnamon flavor. Aged for 18 months in maple syrup barrels that held Heaven Hill Bourbon, this is a big, tasty beer. Conditioned on Ceylon cinnamonDe Fer Tabi Colombia whole bean coffee, maple syrup, Ugandan vanilla bean and coco nibs, this is a treat in a glass. Bottles are 22 dollars. Snap one up ASAP, you’ll thank me.
But wait, there’s more! Douse: Rye is another iteration of a milk stout aged 12 months in American oak barrels that previously held Templeton Rye. Expect a boozy brew that is super smooth and loaded with a sweet and roasty taste. At 11.5%, this is a big brew that demands attention!
Lastly, for all of you barleywine lovers out there, grab a Grand Old Ebenezer: Rum. This English-style barleywine has been aged for twelve months in American Oak barrels that previously held Carribean rum. This 11.2 % barleywine packs a punch and has notes of toffee and dried fruit. Despite the ABV, this one goes down easy.
Want to enter the foundry? All of these bottles are still available for purchase at any of the Cinderlands locations (Foederhouse, Strip District or Wexford). Ranging from 18-22 dollars in price, these beers are worth grabbing to stash in your collection for the perfect occasion or immediately. Raise a glass to some barrel-aged awesomeness!
