I know it’s felt like we’ve been in pandemic mode for eons. As the world has changed, many have risen to care for others and help those in need. Hopefully, we’re at the end of this COVID-ridden stage of life soon. However, I know that supporting small and local businesses will never stop being vital.

East End Brewing and Breweries in PA started their PA Loophole series last fall. In case you weren’t aware of this awesome group of brews, this is a large-group collaboration beer to support smaller breweries that do not have the means to package their beer on a larger scale. Fun fact:  in PA a brewery can sell beer from another PA brewery, but only if it’s for onsite consumption. However, if it’s a collaboration brew with the names of the other breweries on the label, it can also be sold to go! A great loophole indeed!

So far, this series has covered many beloved beer styles. 1.0 was a Hazy IPA with all the right citrus notes. 2.0 took a darker route and was a Mexican hot chocolate stout, perfect for winter weather. The last entry, 3.0, kept things classic with a 4.8% dry-hopped pilsner. Now, we’re at 4.0, yinz guys!

I’m really intrigued by PA Loophole 4.0 because it’s unique. This entry is a White IPA, an uncommon style. A 5.6% brew, this is a marriage of hazy IPA and a witbier, two brews that are perfect for the beginning of summer. The result is loaded with flavors of orange peel, coriander, and hazy, hoppy goodness. It’s a crushable one for sure.

Released this week, the beer is making its way out to many different breweries throughout PA for sale. In Pittsburgh, you can find it at Bloom Brew, Lincoln Avenue Brewing, Mondays Brewing, Recon Brewing, and Union Brothers Brewing. Grab a four pack this week to support this awesome endeavor!
