If you’re reading this you probably like drinking beer, but do you know what’s better than that? Supporting a great cause while doing so. Well, a Philly brewery did just that. Triple Bottom Brewing is opening a beer garden in collaboration with Eastern State Penitentiary. You might know it for its Terror Behind The Walls Halloween tours or for Al Capone’s Cell, but there’s nothing terrifying about this. They canceled Terror Behind The Walls last year, but they offer socially distanced timed tours now!
People re-entering society face countless barriers including being discriminated against while seeking employment, so the brewery and prison are collaborating to give them a “fair chance.” The beer garden will employ former prisoners and offer hands-on activities regarding Eastern State’s history and criminal justice reform. Tickets must be purchased in advance here. The price varies depending on the day you select. Don’t miss the opportunity to drink beer for a great cause.
The Fair Chance Beer Garden opens this Friday, May 7th, along with Summer Twilight Night Tours. The beer garden will serve Triple Bottom’s beer, but if you can’t make it, the brewery is open Thursday-Sunday. They offer takeout as well as outdoor seating. View their menu here.
