It is so nice to go out and safely enjoy a beer or two. This weekend, I had the pleasure of checking out and grabbing a pint at Altered Genius Brewing over in Ambridge, PA. Around 20 minutes outside of the city off of Route 65, this place is creating some excellent beers!
Altered Genius has a ton of space and an outdoor patio to enjoy your beers on. Most importantly, there are 11 beers on tap! I love a good beer that’s over 10%, it’s my weakness. With the Just Wright, Just Wright, Just Wright Triple IPA being freshly released, I had to give it a go! It has the boozy notes you expected from a triple, but it went down way too easy for a 10.2% brew. You’ll need to try this one – it’s an absolute treat!
The tap list is beyond diverse right now. `I also sampled Lando (7.2%), a hazy and citrusy New England IPA that was perfect for a sunny Saturday. I’m a sucker for a seltzer, and their current version is unreal. Loaded with juniper and berry taste, this is one of the most unique seltzers I have had! I’ll be back for a full pint of that one for sure.
There was one other brew that I needed to try prior to leaving as well. Saisons are a type of beer that I have just started to try and appreciate, so I had to try Marvelous Mrs. Fraisel (5.3%). This one had the woodsy taste one can expect from this style, but the strawberry and basil notes made it one of the most unique beers I’ve had in a while.
With a menu that has me drooling (hello, lobster melt?) and hours from Wednesday-Sunday, I undoubtedly will be back again soon! One of the coolest things I saw in the taproom? They have a board that tells you what’s coming up next. I can’t wait to get a taste of what’s in store at Altered Genius!
