In the backyard of the nation’s capital, Aslin Beer Company has slowly become one of the most talked-about and traded breweries on the East Coast. With the level of experience they have with Hazy IPAs, it is always worth picking up fan favorites when announced. This week, they again release their IPA, Tokyo Smoke.
Aslin eases back on the throttle with Tokyo Smoke, keeping the ABV at a modest 5.5%. Do not let this trick you into thinking this beer is light on flavor. With Galaxy, Mosaic, and Sabro hops, Aslin packs this small IPA with a lot of flavor. A mix of tropical fruit along with peach and melon come together to form a classic Aslin flavor profile.
With the nicer weather rolling in, this really is the perfect beer. You get the flavor and hop aggressiveness but with the drinkability of, dare I say a “light” beer? Not only does it taste fantastic, but you can have one or two more than your average IPAs. That means less time trying to figure out what to do with your hands when in a conversation. And that is good for everyone.
