Over the past several months, I’ve been placing orders with breweries shipping to PA. All the beer was very good, but some breweries provided better experiences than others. Click on a brewery’s name to view their online store.
Everyone raves about Trillium from Boston. They’re one of the largest breweries shipping to PA, and they have one of the highest overall ratings on Untappd (4.25). When I placed the order, they released a Nelson Sauvin DDH DIPA called Double Dry-Hopped Dot Ave. Nelson Sauvin is one of my favorite hops, so I jumped on the opportunity to purchase this beer. UPS picked up my order the same day I placed it, and it arrived two days later, so it was incredibly fresh. The beer was
I ordered from The Veil in Richmond, VA next. They offer 4-packs of all their beers. Like Trillium, UPS picked up my order the same day. My favorite beer was Chubbles Chubbles, a DDH Triple IPA collab with Cloudwater. It was delicious, and I ranked it up there with some of the best hoppy beers I ever had.
I thought I was saving the best for last with Other Half Brewing, who sells a mixed 12 or 24-packs of beer. They mostly ship beer from their Finger Lakes and DC locations. Their Brooklyn location, which releases all the thick DDH IPAs, mostly sells beer for curbside pickup and local delivery. They sometimes ship one or two releases from Brooklyn, but they mostly save their best beer for locals. They also don’t ship your beer until the following Wednesday. While the beer was above average, it pales in comparison to the freshness of a brewery’s best beer delivered two days after release. I’m sure the Brooklyn beer is incredible, but the shipping just wasn’t for me.
