The wait is over! TALEA (pronounced, tah-lay-uh) is NYC’s only exclusively female and veteran-owned production brewery + taproom and is now open for business!

Located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, TALEA’s taproom is a fresh and airy space, contrary to many dimly lit, industrial spaces that are so commonly seen amongst taprooms in America. TALEA has something for everyone at their cafe by day taproom by night establishment. Offerings include, Partners Coffee, Pilot Kombucha, pastries from Bien Cuit as well as flights, tastings, craft beer cocktails and light fare. Visitors can choose indoor or outdoor seating and reservations are highly encouraged.

The goal of Tara and LeAnn, Co-founders and CEO’s, (not to mention, new mothers!) was to disrupt the male dominated industry by appealing to women because “majority of craft beer branding was (and still is) targeted towards the typical beer bros.” (Talea Beer Co.)

Tara and LeAnn met after leaving their corporate jobs in tech and media to pursue careers in the craft beer industry. Both avid homebrewers, quickly realized they shared a vision of opening a brewery that would disrupt the status quo.

Their packaging is colorful and fun. The space, open and inviting. The beer, approachable and light. “TALEA’s beers are at the intersection of high quality and low-bitterness with fruit-forward flavors; beers that you can comfortably share with your hard-seltzer and wine-drinking friends, or open with the most discerning beer connoisseur.” (Talea Beer Co.)

I can give personal testimony that their product is solid. I received a can of TALEA’s Dreamboat NEIPA in my Beers With(out) Beards Festival beer box and was pleasantly surprised. The hazy, yet light IPA was packed full of Ambrosia-like notes of lemon, melon and coconut. To be expected, with the lead hop of Sabro, along with Idaho 7, Amarillo and Cashmere.

I’ve seen some friends on IG ranting and raving about this new brewery and I can’t wait to get up to NYC to give it a try. Drop me a comment if you’ve had the pleasure of visiting TALEA, NYC’s newest and all female and veteran-owned brewery!
