When adding flavors like vanilla and coffee to a beer, there is much finesse needed. You want to be able to taste the beer and not just the adjuncts. In Equilibrium’s “Mobius” Porter series, the brewers have again transformed their 7% ABV American Porter to a new level of beer.

Satisfied with how their last variant of Mobius turned out, Equilibrium incorporated vanilla and espresso beans into the latest version. Using an espresso blend from Mostra Coffee and Madagascar vanilla beans, the brewers created a sophisticated balance of flavors.

Notes of cold brew and frosting come to mind on the nose, which becomes amplified in the flavor. The espresso gives the beer a complex spectrum of flavors you would see in a double shot at your local cafe. Caramel, dark fruit, and chocolate mix with the creamy vanilla of the beans to deliver a perfect balance of beer and adjuncts.

An advantage to this moderate ABV Porter is that you get the flavors you would in a bigger Porter or Stout, but without the alcohol burn that can take some aging to take the edge off. These 500 mL bottles are available now for delivery everywhere in the Mortalis distribution area.
