Yesterday, Texas governor Greg Abbott announced that he was lifting the mask mandate in Texas, allowing businesses to open at 100% capacity, despite warnings from health officials.

As you would expect, this announcement came with a ton of controversy from social media.

While Texas breweries are allowed to open fully, without a mask mandate, many of them, including Austin, TX-based Austin Beerworks and Hopsquad Brewing, announced via their social media that they would still be requiring masks to enter their taproom.

Other local businesses have joined these breweries in requiring masks for entry. Local reporter Brittany Flowers, from Austin-based KVUE, created a a Twitter thread of businesses still requiring masks in the Austin area.

Earlier today, Mississippi governor Tate Reeves also announced that he is lifting the mask mandate in Mississippi.

We haven’t received word from Mississippi breweries, but we will be monitoring the story as it unfolds.
