Last weekend, I, like many folks in the Pittsburgh Area, was immersed in the saga of Rocky the Raccoon over at Southern Tier Pittsburgh. Here’s a brief summary of this lovable trash bandit’s tale.

Just one week ago, January 29th, it all began. Southern Tier closed their taproom early for the day because of a furry invader who found his way to the rafters and wouldn’t come out! He ended up being quite the smart little fellow and ate all of the food in the traps they set and stayed up. The folks at Southern Tier handled this with the most epic set of memes on their account that I’ve ever seen. Seriously, it made my weekend.

Then, Sunday came. As we all waited online for updates (I was seriously invested in this saga, guys), the little buddy was finally captured and released safely back into the wild. Southern Tier has already declared January 29, 2022 the first annual Rocky Raccoon day, and I will totally be there!

Today, to commemorate the one week anniversary of the Rocky Racoon Saga, Southern Tier Pittsburgh has released a beer in its honor! Hazy Trash Bandit is a 6.5% IPA brewed with Mandarina Bavarian hops. This beer is just as smooth as Rocky breaking into the taproom rafters. Expect an easy drinking IPA with just the right amount of bitterness. Available in the taproom in Pittsburgh, grab your brew in the taproom or get it to go to commemorate Rocky in all of his glory.

I’ve got to hand it to Southern Tier – they handled this amazingly despite having to close their taproom for 2 days due to this little visitor. Also, I need a shirt with Rocky on it. Just saying. I cannot wait to get my hands on this brew and cheers to the iconic Rocky Racoon!
