Sometimes fanfare and the allure of brewery space will persuade brewers to put out beers that have a quick lifespan from grain to glass. That is not the case with Trillium’s latest release, Crates, which is literally years in the making.

Brewed with their friend and fellow brewer, Brad Clark of Private Press Brewing, in 2018, Crates is named after the pastime of digging through record crates, trying to find a hidden gem or two between ‘ABBA’ and ‘ZZ Top’.

Crates is a massive Imperial Stout that has been hibernating in bourbon barrels since they teamed up. They cherry-picked their favorite barrels and blended them till they got the perfect combination of stout, bourbon, and age.

The end result is a perfectly blended, non-adjunct Imperial Stout. It should go without saying, but once this beer is gone, it is gone for good. Get it while it lasts.
