The lights are up, the stockings are out, and we even saw a snowstorm in the past week. The Holiday season is here in Pittsburgh, folks! And with this change in the weather comes a change in the beer world. Recently, I’ve seen more and more festive brews start to be released. Here’s what’s caught my eye:

Allegheny City Brewing: Vincovats Winter Warmer (8.1%). If there’s one thing I love about most winter beers, it’s the fact that they’re often boozy. This big beer is spiced with cinnamon sticks, orange peel, nutmeg and brown sugar. Literally everything you want in an Xmas brew. Malty and hopped with centennial, this beer will warm you up for sure.

Cinderlands Beer: She’s a Beaut (7.4%). This Holiday IPA with the amazing name and festive can art needs to be a part of your Christmas drinking! Brewed with spruce tips and sweet orange peel, this beer is the perfect December IPA. Hopped with chinook, centennial and citra, expect some citrusy and piney goodness! Cans are sold out of this brew for now, but you can still grab a crowler to taste as you decorate your tree!

Inner Groove Brewing: Ginger Bell Rock (5.8%). My love of brown ales is deep – this style is soooo underrated. This holiday staple at Inner Groove tastes like a gingerbread cookie in a glass and goes down oh-so-easy. A nice malty and roasty brew, expect awesomely full flavor. This brew was gone in a flash this weekend at Inner Groove and is sold out! However, stay tuned, I’ve been told there are other amazing holiday treats coming.

Penn Brewery: St. Nikolaus Bock (6.5%). When you are thinking of the OG Pittsburgh holiday craft brew, this is your ticket. A rich, strong, malty lager, this dark ruby beer is subtly caramelly and perfect for December. With notes of chocolate and a smooth taste, leave one of these out for Santa on the 25th! Available only from November-January each year, this beer has a following and I know many around the ‘Burgh love this brew deeply.

I’ve started making my list and checking it twice, but I’m pretty sure all of these brews are going to be absolutely niiice! Have a safe, happy and healthy holiday season, my friends! Cheers!
