I had the pleasure of having one of my favorite collabs so far this year to usher in the winter beer season this weekend. A good, festive brew this time of year has to be juuuust right, not too light, not too heavy. And this collab was PERFECT!
I had the pleasure of stopping by Mondays Brewing in McMurray this weekend. It’s been on my list to try for quite a while now, ever since got to see the place in the building phase this summer. This new brewery to the south hills is looking sharp!
The first beer I needed to try? The Washington Winter Warmer (6.8%) , their first collab created with the folks over at Rusty Gold Brewing in nearby Canonsburg. The result? A brew flavored with cinnamon, vanilla and brown sugar for an amazing yuletide experience. Nugget and Simcoe hops create the perfect balance with all of the winter spices used. You’ll need to take this one home with you, trust me.
Tangled Aggression (6%) was next on my list. This brew is a complex take on an American Amber. With just the right amount of bitter, expect some nice malty and hoppy notes with a fruity finish. Citrusy in scent, this one is not like the other ambers out there! Mondays also has many local brews available as well – including Arsenal Cider, the PA Loophole beers from East End and a gluten-free Session IPA from Aurochs Brewing.
Looking for a low-key place for the perfect afternoon or happy hour pint? Mondays is the place. Open on Mondays (hence the moniker), and from Thursday-Sundays each week, this place is cranking out some nice solid brews! They’ve also got amazing pepperoni rolls from nearby Bartram House for purchase for your meal at the brewery. Stop in soon to grab a taste of the Mondays!
