“When the moon hits your eyes…that’s ‘amore’”

The end of November brings two things: Thanksgiving, and the return of New Trail Brewing’s (Williamsport, Pennsylvania) Moonlit Imperial Stout.

Falling into the English vein of stouts, this 9.1% ABV beer is brewed exclusively with English base malt and dark crystal malt, giving it just a touch more maltiness. Highlights of coffee and chocolate shine through. Coupled with a full mouthfeel, it’s the perfect beer to start the holidays.

To outdo themselves, New Trail also has concocted two different varietals of Moonlit as well this year: Coconut and Vanilla. Expect the same great flavors of the original with the added decadence of the classic. And just to bump it up yet another level, they will also be releasing a variety of barrel-aged versions, both of this year’s and previous years’ editions.

While New Trail will be distributing to some of their Pennsylvania footprint, your best bet will be to head into the brewery and either try the beers on draft or purchase the available bottles and cans.
