One of the things that really makes me happy right now is that breweries are slowly but surely expanding their hours. As we hopefully (fingers crossed) can reach a new normal, it’s getting easier and easier to grab a brew and a bite during the week!
If I am going to go to a brewery during the work week, I like going on Wednesdays. It’s a small celebration that the week is over halfway done and a nice way to relax after slogging through my Monday and Tuesday. Here are some of my favorite places to catch a midweek break and have a brew at!
My first pick for this midweek refresher is Dancing Gnome. Prior to the pandemic, I loved heading down there on this not-quite-as-busy day for dinner and a brew. With the beer garden opening behind the brewery, this is the time to snag a reservation! The weekends fill up pretty quick. With Dead Sleep:Coffee and several new IPAs currently available, I’m eyeing this up for this Wednesday!
Second, I love a local favorite. Living close to the brewery, Lincoln Avenue Brewery has become a spot for me to drive to when we need a break from cooking. Also, Wednesday is burger night! Lincoln Ave makes some AMAZING burgers! With an Oktoberfest on tap that is sweet, malty and wonderful, I’m sold!
Lastly, make the drive out on 65 to Ambridge to Altered Genius Brewing. Wednesdays are the day that the Altered Genius kitchen is open and you can try some of the tasty goodness that they’ve been whipping up! The menu includes pretzels, pulled pork nachos, and sandwiches with selected beer pairings. I’m drawn to the pork sliders and Smokey Kolsch pairing. Mmmmm! The Save a Pear saison was brewed with breast cancer awareness in mind as 20% the proceeds will go towards research programs. With a crisp and clean taste, it’ll provide that saison funk with an easy finish!
