Strange Roots releases The Plague this Week!

Strange Roots Experimental Ales
makes some of the most unique beers in the ‘Burgh. This brewery is constantly pushing the envelope to create wild and experimental ales like no other place.  I’m also obsessed with the art on the bottles and cans – just the right amount of dark quirkiness! They’re releasing a BIG one for us this week, guys. Set your alarms, mark your calendars, whatever it takes!

The Plague is upon us, guys! Strange Root’s annual release of this beer is October 20th! This beer is beyond unique. Using a process called Solera, portions of younger vintages are added in casks with older vintages. This process promotes both complexity and sustainability for years to come. The Plague 2020 (9%) is blended with batches from 2018 and 2019.

The taste? Initially, you get a burst of fresh briar berries, roasted coffee and malty chocolate, with french vanilla oak. WHOA. Aromatic with berries and some stone fruit, the beer then continues with depth from the Petit Syrah casks it was aged in. It finishes tart, but with a very soft sourness. This beer is a must try!

My favorite part about this year’s release is that they’re giving back to the community. In the midst of a pandemic, Strange Roots has decided to donate a portion of the sales from this beer to the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. Making the world a little better in 2020 and giving back to a struggling industry? Amazing.

Due to the pandemic, this release is online. Set your alarms for 12pm on October 20th – there will be taproom pickup AND PA shipping for this beer! Taproom pickups for Millvale and Gibsonia start on 10/28 and run til 10/31. This beer sounds like a sublime treat to ring in Halloween with!

Last but not least, the pricing. This is a beer that will sell out, it has a massive following. Strange Roots is releasing several bundle options this year as well! You can purchase 12 bottles or 6 bottles as a bundle and also receive a shirt and poster with this year’s amazing label art. Individual bottles will retail for 10.99 a piece. 2018 and 2019 vintages will also be available, as well as shirts and posters.

Again, set your alarms for 10/20 at noon, folks! Cheers to another great release on this amazing brew, Strange Roots!
