We are a city that has been blessed by the craft beer gods tenfold. One can easily find a great place to pick up and enjoy a local brew around these parts. Like IPAs? We got that. Stout season? Check. You name it, we can direct you to a great place to enjoy it!

And now, we have a Gold Medal winner in our midst! Emsworth’s own (think between Sewickley and Bellevue for you locals) Aurochs Brewing won the best gluten-free beer award at the Great American Beer Fest last night! One of the largest fests, this is a big deal. Beers from all over the country, from breweries large and small enter.

This isn’t the first time Aurochs has medaled in this category, but it is their first time taking the top spot! The beer in question? The Aurochs Hazy IPA (6.5%). Brewer Chris Carr has worked to perfect this masterpiece as an absolutely crushable juice bomb! With a killer tropical fruit flavor and aroma, this is a soft, pillowy IPA that goes down smooth. Just enough hop taste for those who need that note and just enough juice to loop others in! Seriously, try it next time it’s in stock at the brewery (more is coming, promise).

Known for being a gluten free brewery, I, for one, love this place because it just makes great beer. Regardless of whether or not you follow a sans-gluten diet, you need to check this hidden gem out! Their pumpkin beer  has a cult-like following, and the current Kolsch on tap is straight fire. The brewery is open for take out only Thursday-Saturday!

I am so freaking proud of the folks at Aurochs for this massive victory! 45 entries were submitted from around the country, and this Yinzer-riffic beer topped the list! Can’t wait to see what comes next, Aurochs!
