This post is part of an on-going series of posts where we plan to highlight craft beer personalities from Instagram.

Today, we talk to Roxane (@roxy_liquid_dream). Roxane is a wine and beer lover, foodie and globe-trotter based on Montreal.

We haven’t had a whole lot of beer from Canada so we wanted to catch up with Roxane, learn a little more about her and the beers she drinking in our neighboring country.

You can follow Roxane by checking out her Instagram!

What was the first craft you ever had?

Unibroue in Quebec was the first real brewery to offer craft beer. It was 18 years ago… La blanche de Chambly is a wheat beer with coriander and orange hint. I’ve drank craft beer since that day.

What was it that made you fall in love with craft beer?

I love the fact that the flavors are so much richer than a regular beer. And the fact that I had to travel out of Montreal at the beginning, so it was a nice way to have a getaway from the city.

What are some of your favorite beer styles at the moment?

I really enjoy stouts and barrel-aged beers. I recently discovered sour beers this summer.

While we’re on the topic, what are some of your favorite breweries at the moment?

Probably @pubbrewskey and @raslbock and from the States @drekkerbrewing and @urbanartifactbeer

Do you notice any major differences between the Canadian beer scene and the US beer scene?

I think the major difference is that our beer is usually stronger in ABV and not as sweet. Every time I receive beer from an exchange, the level of sugar surprises me. There’s not a lot of beer like @450northbrewing up here. We also have a lot more unfiltered beer.

We see you’re a wine lover also, what kind of wine do you enjoy?

I studied wine in school, so my first love was wine since I’m a sommelier. I really love pinot noir and barrel-aged chardonnay. I think that’s why I’m so attracted to all these barrel-aged beers and why I always loved the Belgium beer scene.

If you could travel to one beer city you’ve never been before, which would it be?

The Portland, Seattle and Vancouver area!!! I’ve been there before but I was not into craft beer that much at that moment. I did some trades and all their beers are so good!!! I’m dying to try @monkishbrewing. I have 2 amazing beer lovers’ groups and I had the chance to try some amazing beers from all over the states because of some of my beer brothers and sisters. When I started the beerbabesfamily, I never thought I would find woman that I would exchange so much with. We talk all the time and talk about everything in our lives and ask each other for their opinion when we are not sure about the right thing to do. I love my girls so much!!!!

Do you have any other Instagram accounts you’d recommend for beer lovers?

I think right now my favorite IG beer lovers are @proper_josh and @marty_and_the_craftbeers for their amazing beers reviews. @brews.with.beerkowski , @vancitygrowlergirl and @thecraftbrewnette for their amazing pictures and they also are strong independent woman in this beer community. But I have so many others that I follow everyday like @ladyofbrews because she runs her page like mine (she interacts with her followers and she’s such a sweetheart)

Lastly, how can our readers at all home find you online?
