We are really blessed here in Pittsburgh with so many unique food and craft beer opportunities. Shubrew, in Zelienople (just north of the city), is a personal favorite of mine. The beer is top notch, and the food seals the deal! Shout out to the Spiderpig pizza, seriously. The Shubrew crew is serving up something new now for us all!
General Shu’s, the newest edition to the Shubrew family, has opened their doors! Starting August 22nd, this new restaurant has been winning the beer-loving public over – they’ve been selling out most nights, which is a fantastic feat!
The menu looks AMAZING. From your chinese food classics such as eggrolls, general Shu’s chicken, and mongolian beef, one can totally get their fix on these dishes. But there’s more as well!
Just like the main Shubrew restaurant, there are multiple vegetarian and vegan options available. As someone who is trying to eat more plant-centered meals, this makes me SO excited! I’m especially interested in the General Shu’s Eggplant and the Kung Pao tofu. No matter your dietary need, they’ve got you!
Last but not least, THE BEER! I promise I didn’t forget. There’s the Hurricane Spin Pixelated IPA (7.3%). With excellent Untappd ratings, this New England IPA is filled to the brim with that juicy haze. In a cute nod to the PSU vs. Pitt rivalry, you can also snag a four pack of the College Light Lager (4.3%) in the school colors of your choosing. Perfect for these lingering hot days, this one is totally crushable.
General Shu’s is open Wednesday-Sundays each week. Limited seating is available if you want to enjoy a meal there. They’re working on building more cold storage so they can produce more food because they are selling out! Check their website for hours and for quick online ordering and welcome the General to the craft beer neighborhood!
