Certain things are always associated with certain times of year. In the Winter, you think about deep, dark stouts. Fall, pumpkin – own that basic! Summer beers – light and tasty, with some citrus goodness layered in there. This year, it’s all about the lemon in the beers I’ve seen recently. Here are a few of the releases recently from around the ‘Burgh that will tickle your citrus tastebuds and help you hold on to summer for a few more weeks!
Hitchhiker Brewing: Whole Punch Lemon Bar IPA (7 %): Oooh man, I need this one. Lemon bars are one of my favorite desserts and the Whole Punch series always delivers. Expect the perfect balance of lemon, dessert and hops.
Inner Groove Brewing: Bouncin’ Around Sour (5.3%) – A kettle sour with lactose, conditioned on lemon puree with madagascar vanilla. Expect an awesome lemonadey taste as we combat these dog days of summer!
Grist House: Seltza Drip – Blueberry Lemon (5.0%) – I got this one the day it came out. I’ve been an unabashed fan of seltzers during this hot summer, and boy does this one deliver! Light and refreshing, check out those Grist House seltzers – you won’t regret it!
Needless to say, if life gives you lemons, make lemon beer! Did you try these? What did you think? Share in the comments below! If you have a lemon release that you’ve seen this summer from Pittsburgh that I missed, let me know as well! Cheers!
