Other Half Brewing Company looks to be on track to open its doors for business to the fanfare of beer enthusiasts throughout the area. Located in Ivy City, a stone’s throw away from Gallaudet and the H Street Corridor in Northeast, this will be Other Half’s third brewery location and their first outside of New York.
DC was not a random selection for the Brooklyn-based brewery. Founders of the brewery are DC natives, and their new custom production facility and taproom will allow them to bring their acclaimed IPAs to town as well as allow them to brew diverse styles that may have been more limited in the past.
Other Half’s mission has been to create beers that they want to drink from a company that they want to be a part of. The DC craft beer scene is primed for a brand with this kind of dedication to both quality and the community.
The brewery is located at 1401 Okie St NE in the building that formerly housed the Pappas Tomato Factory. Slated to begin brewing in September of this year, expect a more specific opening date closer to October 2020.
Until then, weekly drops of Other Half beer will be available at Downtown Crown Wine & Beer in Gaithersburg.
