With Allegheny County bars, restaurants, and breweries back under strict restrictions and to-go only alcohol for now, many of us are venturing to other counties to grab a brew. Butler county, just a short drive north of Pittsburgh has some great breweries. I’ve taken the time to create a mini-brew tour for you, my readers!

Stop 1: Recon Brewing – First up on our mini-tour is Recon. One of the coolest things about this brewery is that they have a “karma tap” at the brewery. Order from this tap and a portion of the proceeds are donated to that month’s charity. Good beer and giving back? Super cool. Also of note, the Bake Shop Series – Salted Caramel Cupcake sounds scrumptious if you’re into stouts (as you know I am in a BIG way). Hazeboi? Order yourself a pint of Backlit, their bright hazy IPA which is a killer balance of hops and citrus.

Stop 2: Reclamation Brewing – The next stop on our tour, Reclamation brewing is around ten minutes drive from Recon. Located on South Main Street in Butler, the tap list has something for everyone. Love a good barleywine? There’s one on tap. Want to cool down with a seltzer? They have a mango-raspberry that will quench your thirst. In the mood for something with a little tang? Strawberry Fields are Sour, a refreshing berliner weisse loaded with fruity goodness, is at the top of my list!

Stop 3: Butler Brew Works – Our mini-tour ends just down the street from Reclamation. Seriously, Butler Brew works is JUST down the street from Reclamation. Grab some grub here and your final brew of the night! They have a great menu and are open for dine-in! Mosaic Mirage White IPA is a refreshing blend of old school wit and hoppy west coast, with plenty of citrus taste. Tangerine Dream, a 5.5% witbier sounds completely crushable for these warm summer days!

This is just a small shot at the great breweries around the Butler area. Have a favorite beer that I didn’t mention or a brewery we need to profile? Let us know in the comments below!
