Amidst a pandemic and civil unrest, we need unity and strength together more than ever. The fight for change we must face together. In the craft beer industry, the Black is Beautiful collaboration beer has arised. Many across the industry are teaming up and showing support by brewing this beer and some are local! See our previous post on this awesome beer for a cause by Ian Steele to learn more.
First Sip Brew Box is a black owned, woman owned, and veteran owned business and Dennis and Sammie Guy really want to create positive change and impact. They’ve teamed up with Couch Brewing and Abjuration Brewing to create this beer. This is a collaborative effort to raise awareness for the injustices people of color face daily. It also exists to raise money for police brutality reform and legal defense for those who have been wronged. What an amazing, worthwhile cause during these times.
This project is just in its infancy as it was announced by a social media post earlier this week. The game plan is for these breweries to use the base recipe that has been shared for the beer, as well as the name and branding. They will of course, be putting their own spin on it, so expect something spectacular. The only hints we’ve been given so far is that it’s a stout – dark beer fans take note!
Brew Day will be on July 12th, which will be here before we know it. 100% of the profits will go to a local charity advocating mental health.
I’m going to be following along with this project and know this beer will be at the top of my list when it debuts. Stay tuned as I learn more information as the beer creation process begins!
