Yea, so earlier today, I posted in our Facebook group that I was heading to Richmond, VA for my birthday (July 17th-19th), and I planned on making a pit stop at The Answer to accomplish two things:
- Drink out of Fishbowl (as is customary there on your birthday)
- Drop some sweet FBH merch in the Giving Tree
For those of you who may not know, the Giving Tree WAS a pretty sweet box (that looks like a tree) that sat on the deck outside of The Answer Brewpub in Richmond, VA.
Via the Giving Tree, you were able to drop off cool beers, glasses, SLAPS, etc for other people to grab. And of course, if you wanted to try something, you were more than welcome to grab something from it for yourself. Truly, the Giving Tree was an amazing piece of craft beer culture.
Unbeknownst to me this morning, the Giving Tree is now gone because APPARENTLY (and I stress apparently because it isn’t confirmed!) somebody (no clue who) decided to pop open a can and drink it right there on the deck. Of course, the Virginia ABC didn’t like that too much.
Fortunately, as far as we know no citations were given our, so nobody go in trouble. However, the Giving Tree is no more.
Anyway, I’m done ranting about this, and just wanted to share with you my frustration.
If anyone happens to be in RVA July 17th-19th, feel free to email at [email protected] or hit me up in our Facebook group. Let’s hang!
And enjoy this picture of the FBH sticker sitting on the tree back in July 2019. We dropped a SLAP in the Tree last year and somebody put it dead center in the best possible place. Shoutout to that person!
What was the best thing you ever pulled out of the Giving Tree?
