The Pittsburgh beer community is truly unique. In these strange times, the laughs and sense of togetherness we get through a post or social media group can lift our spirits. For me, Sobel’s Obscure Brewery demands to be followed! Their social media posts always make me smile!
Located in Jeanette, PA, Sobel’s consists of father-daughter team David and Jackie Sobel. They post some of the funniest content I’ve seen during this time of social distancing. Whether it be quarantine-related Youtube commercials, or dance breaks celebrating a new sign above the entrance to their brewery, I guarantee their social media presence will make you laugh! They’re in the process of building an outdoor pop-up garden that’s sure to be a success once it opens (hopefully soon!).
Aside from their high quality social media content, they also have several great brews. Their Prehistoric Pilsner is one of my favorites of that style and is light and citrusy, going down super easy for a 7% beer. The Honey Blossom Hefeweizen is blended with honey and blood orange and is perfect for these warm temperatures!
Pickup is available at the brewery’s warehouse Wednesdays-Sundays . They also offer online ordering for the Ligonier Country Market (Saturdays) and are distributed widely throughout Allegheny and Westmoreland County. Give them a follow (@sobelsobscurebrewery) and pick up a brew today!
