Weathered Souls Brewing, a black-owned brewery out of San Antonio, has begun a Black Is Beautiful Beer Collaboration, and it’s incredible.
The brewery states their mission on the Black Is Beautiful website:
“The Black Is Beautiful Initiative is to bring a collaborative effort amongst the brewing community and its customers, in an attempt to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. Our mission is to bridge the gap around for ages and provide a platform to show that the brewing community is an inclusive place for everyone of any color. We are asking for all breweries and brewers far and wide to raise a glass with us in unison and participate in this collaboration.”
Breweries can sign up to brew this imperial stout, use the label design, and are asked that, “a portion of the proceeds go to your local foundations that support police brutality reform and legal defenses for those who have been wronged. We think everyone should choose their own entity to donate to and spread the love as much as possible.”
The most recent available numbers show that 160 breweries have signed up so far to participate in the Black Is Beautiful Initiative, which was launched June 1st.
You know it and we know it, the craft beer community is a tight-knit one. We weren’t surprised by the All Together initiative to support the hospitality industry, and we aren’t surprised now. We’re only proud to be able to take part. Look for the Black Is Beautiful label near you, and use your passion as yet another way to support the Black Lives Matter movement.
